Self Care Tips For Psoriasis

One of the principal things that have helped thousands of our patients is the intake of flax seeds. Known as 'alsi' and commonly available, flax seeds are a rich source of omega 3 fatty acids which modify the chain of events that cause psoriasis. Roast the seeds, grind them and take two spoons with water daily before breakfast and before dinner.


Avoid red meat since it contains a natural inflammatory substance which worsens the inflammation in psoriasis


Exposure to the morning sun for about 15 minutes is helpful to many patients. Avoid sun exposure between 11 am to 4 pm.


Regular and quick bath with lukewarm (not hot) water and mild soaps containing some oil/fats helps to remove scales and reduce inflammation. For severe exacerbation of symptoms, Epsom salt bath helps (use after consultation with your physician). Apply olive oil after such a bath to avoid dryness.
